Available Terms & Compensation
We are currently recruiting for two distinct service terms:
- Summer 2026
Duration: 3 to 6 months
Living Stipend: Pro-rated based on length of service
Education: Pro-rated Segal Education Award + West Virginia Tuition Waiver* - Full Year (2026-27)
Duration: 11.5 months
Living Stipend: $21,000 per year
Education: $7,395 Segal Education Award + West Virginia Tuition Waiver*
*Note: The Segal Education Award and West Virginia Tuition Waiver are awarded upon the successful completion of the full term of service and all program requirements.
What You Will Do
As a Conservation AmeriCorps Volunteer, you will play a vital role in protecting and promoting West Virginia's natural resources. Daily responsibilities vary by host site but generally include:
- Hands-on Conservation: Improving and maintaining public lands, trails, and natural habitats.
- Community Engagement: Delivering outreach and environmental education to local community members and students.
- Capacity Building: Supporting local conservation organizations and strengthening regional environmental stewardship.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
We strongly encourage applicants with degrees or hands-on experience in natural resources, conservation, wildlife biology, interpretation, communications, or related fields to apply.
Core Skills: Ability to conduct physical field work, strong written and oral communication skills, and proficiency with common computer programs.
Bonus Skills: Familiarity with specialized tools like GIS mapping is a major plus.
Logistics: A personal vehicle is highly recommended due to the rural and mountainous nature of the service locations.
