Description
Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) is a 10-week internship from June 1st to August 8th. Students will collaborate with mentors on ongoing projects. We are looking for highly motivated students who can collaborate independently in all weather conditions. Students who wish to apply to SULI should be an undergraduate student pursuing or who recently (within two years) obtained a degree in wildlife/ biology/natural resources. A weekly stipend is provided, and dormitory style housing and round-trip travel for students who live more than 50 miles from the Laboratory.
Possible research activities for collaboration include:
GIS/Envi. Engineering Projects
Fire Effects Monitoring
Small Mammal Trapping
Fuels Monitoring
Camera Trap Population Study
Bat Acoustics
Eastern Box Turtles
Bird Surveys
Tick Monitoring
Requirements
Applications must be filled out online with the Department of Energy - SULI program (https://apps.orau.gov/suli/Account/Login). No applications will be accepted through e-mail. Applicants must be a sophomore or higher with a minimum GPA of 3.00. Two references are required. The time period between receipt of an undergraduate degree and starting the SULI term must be two years or less. When filling out the application, select Brookhaven National Laboratory and biology or environmental science as the research area.
