Description
The Department of Natural Resources Management at Texas Tech University is recruiting a MS or PhD student with strong interests in plant ecology, grasslands and savannas, livestock production, wildlife, aquatic or terrestrial ecology and related fields. The position is anticipated to start in Fall 2026. The student selected will be hired as a research assistant supported by the San Antonio Livestock Exposition (SALE) Endowed Fellowship with an annual salary of $18,000 (MS) or $22,000 (PhD). In addition to stipend, tuition, some fees and benefits are covered at no expense to the recipient. The student will be admitted to Texas Tech Graduate School, upon the fulfillment of all requirements, under the MS or PhD program in Wildlife, Aquatic, and Wildlands Science and Management in the Department of Natural Resources Management.
The student will work under the supervision of a faculty member of the Department of Natural Resources Management (https://www.depts.ttu.edu/nrm/) to study and conduct research related to rangeland ecology and management or topics in wildlife or fisheries management that include a rangeland component. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, natural resources management or related fields. A student applying for the PhD program must have obtained an MS degree related to natural resources ecology and management.
Preferred qualifications include: a GPA higher than 3.0 in secondary and or postsecondary education, experience participating in extracurricular activities, ability to balance working independently and collaboratively, strong written and oral communication skills, and being comfortable working in remote locations.
