- Volunteer with sea turtle nesting monitoring
Description
VOLUNTEER POSITION-ON GOING CALL
The Leatherback Trust is opening spaces for volunteers in our sea turtle nesting monitoring project in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Our project focuses on conservation and research of three endangered species of sea turtles. We run a small camp near the beach we monitor, which is located in a remote area, and we accept volunteers all through the season, from October to March, for a minimum of 10 days. The cost is $20 a day, including lodging and meals. Volunteers will participate in night patrols (4-6 hours), nest protection and monitoring (3 hours), Temperature tracking (2 hours) or assist in other student research. Research team, students, interns and volunteers share a house and the responsabilities to take care of it. Remote conditions in this area mean: limited access to wifi, phone reception (not available in the camp or surroundings) and electricity (solar panel to charge small items during the day available in the camp).
Requirements
